Saanich is expanding its program offering free admittance to local recreation centres.

The Leisure Involvement for Everyone (LIFE) program offers free drop-ins at recreation centres, as well as discounts and free passes for things such as workshops, camps and other events.

Eligibility is based on financial circumstances, with income levels set depending on family size.

Previously, enrolled individuals would get 52 drop-ins per year at Victoria regional recreation centres, including those in Saanich. Participants will now get unlimited drop-ins at Saanich recreation centres and 52 at other regional ones.

The program has also now been expanded to include post-secondary students at the University of Victoria, Royal Roads and Camosun College.

And once accepted, passes will now be valid for two years instead of one.

To be accepted into the program, applicants must provide proof of income shown on their most recent Notice of Assessment.

Applications can be found at saanich.ca/life.
