Anglers coalition eyes chinook salmon project

Special town hall meeting will address feeding more killer whales.

Any Sookies looking to talk about, and get involved in local fishing initiatives are invited to attend a special town hall meeting on Tuesday (July 12), hosted by the South Vancouver Island Anglers Coalition.

The organization will discuss its latest project, a significant enhancement of chinook salmon in existing hatcheries with the intent to provide additional food for endangered killer whales.

The meeting will feature a 30-minute power point presentation where members from the fishing community and SVIA will answer questions and offer suggestions on how people can help or support the project.

The town hall meeting is open to the public and it starts at 7 p.m. at the Sooke Community Hall.
