Lily Lecinana, 8, had long hair that reached her mid back.

But Wednesday she lost it all for a good cause. She donated her dark brown locks to children fighting cancer.

A hairstylist at Mel O Hair Salon in Sooke cut Lily’s hair into a nice short cut.

“I want to donate my hair for kids for cancer,” said Lily, a Grade 3 student at Ecole Poirier Elementary School.

Lily has been growing her hair out for about four years, she said.

“I don’t think I’ll miss it,” she said.
