Bob Fleming proves that exceptional things come from hard work, grit, and perseverance.

Braving the strong wind and heavy rain today, Fleming preps his flower beds for the pallet of tulip bulbs arriving on Friday.

‘The Tulip House’ on the corner of Beach and Dalhousie in Oak Bay, is famous among locals and a wonderment to tourists.

Last year, Fleming planted 7800 tulip bulbs. This year he is increasing that amount by a few hundred and planting 15 different varieties.

The spectacular bloom in April will be Fleming’s sweet reward for working through today’s miserable conditions.
