Pages of me in our local newspaper. Wow. I was nervous and now extremely happy to read the article.
The event described in your editorial sounds wonderful, with local clean up in the morning and group clean ups in the afternoon.
Our community is incredible in its ability to jump into groups. So, I ask that directors and elders of every volunteer group in Sooke start to discuss joining in officially as a group. All individuals wishing to join in to help would be fine, too.
Whatever you call the day, the purpose of the day is what is of most import. That said, we want something that calls out and attracts. We would also need something to help motivate and make our community feel as one.
The name closest to “Moonfist Day,”, that I feel would be appropriate is “Sooke Moon Day.” Again, using my name or even the word Moon is of no personal import. “Sooke Good Spirit Day ” “Sunshine on your Shoulders Day” “True to You Day” “Come Together Right Now Day”… so many ideas keep popping out that no one should feel tension about the possible name of the event.
Let’s just make sure that something happens.
