New reporter at the Mirror
A graduate of the UVIC writing program, Christine Vopel has previously written for a number of publications including The Barnacle, Gulf Islands Driftwood, Island Writer, The Martlet.
When not in the office writing articles she can be found surfing winter waves at her favourite beaches. She is also an avid outdoor rock climber, snow boarder and surf kayaker.
Christine is a new member of the Sooke Coast guard Auxiliary, Volunteer Fire Rescue and has some search and rescue experience.
A world traveller at heart, Christine taught English for a year-and-a-half in South Korea and travelled through South America.
Born and raised on Salt Spring Island, Christine has now embraced Sooke as her new home and looks forward to getting to know more people in the community and telling the stories they want to share and hear about.
