Sooke Harbour House on the market
The venerable Sooke Harbour House has been listed for sale for $5.9 million.
The Sooke Harbour House has a long history in Sooke since the 1920s when the property contained a motor camp with a nearby tea house run by Antony Kohout. Later Jules LaVertu and his family ran a restaurant and inn which had four rooms and was known as “the” place to go for dinner.
In 1979 the inn was purchased by Frederique and Sinclair Philip and they brought it to prominence with their charming gardens, imaginative guest rooms and world-class dining experience. The inn now has 28 guest suites each with a different theme and art throughout the building. The inn’s cuisine focuses on local, regional foods inspired by the sea and the Slow Food Movement. Their wine cellar is considered one of the best, featuring a wealth of B.C. wines.
The awards won by the Sooke Harbour House place it among the best in the world and the modest inn has attracted the famous and the powerful.
