The Sooke Land Use and Environment Committee, at a meeting on June 18, passed a recommendation to the District of Sooke council to consider another location for a proposed 40-metre cell phone tower.

The wireless facility would be located on property at 6631 Sooke Road. The tower would be used by Globalive Wireless Management Corporation (WIND Mobile) to proved cellular network coverage.

Residents have come forward in opposition to the tower citing health concerns.

The recommendation will come before council at the next regular meeting on June 25.
