The District of Sooke has a new corporate officer … well, sort of.

District council has approved the hiring of Gabryel Joseph as its new corporate officer. Joseph held the role in an acting position for the last few months.

Joseph is the district’s director of corporate services and will assume the corporate officer position in his current role.

Chief administrative officer Teresa Sullivan said the corporate officer position was filled following a competitive hiring process.

The corporate officer is assigned the responsibility of corporate administration in a municipality, and is required under provincial law.
