Icy road conditions likely cause of crash

A driver lost control of his SUV and crashed into a curb near Sooke River bridge early Tuesday morning, say fire officials.

Slippery conditions are likely to blame after a driver lost control of his SUV and crashed into a curb near Sooke River bridge early Tuesday morning, say fire officials.

The driver was heading westbound into Sooke around 5 a.m., when he lost control of his Jeep and hit a curb on the side of Sooke River bridge, causing the vehicle to break an axle, said Matt Barney, assistant fire chief, Sooke Fire Rescue.

The driver was not hurt and was the lone occupant in the vehicle.
