Sooke Mayor Wendal Milne announced on Nov. 6  that the search for a new Chief Administrative Officer is complete and they have hired Gord Howie.

Howie, said Milne, comes with 37 years of experience in local government, the most recent in Prince Rupert.

Milne said there were more than 100 applicants who applied for the top post in the municipality.

Howie has signed a three-year contract with the District of Sooke. He will take up his position on Feb. 1, 2013.

The last CAO, Evan Parliament left the district’s employ after five years when he resigned on July 31.
