Sooke crews battle house fire

Fire crews were called to the scene of a house fire on Sooke River Road at around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Fire crews were called to the scene of a house fire on Sooke River Road at around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The fire began in the upstairs level of the house, located in the 2600 block of Sooke River Road.

It took fire crews from Sooke, Metchosin and Otter Point more than 3½ hours to extinguish the blaze, which caused more than $100,000 in damages, said Sooke Fire Chief Steve Sorensen.

There were no injuries.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
