It is with great sadness that our family announces the
passing of our dear mother, Accamma, in her 82nd year,
on Monday, October 4th, 2010 with her family at her side.
Accamma was suitably called Joy by her family and many
friends.
Joy is predeceased by her cherished parents, beloved
husband, & eldest sister. She is survived by older sister
Annamma, younger brother Oomen Chacko, daughters,
Betsy (Dr. Nandakumar), Rebecca (Richard), Susan,
Georgia (Ron), and treasured grandchildren Stephen,
Skyler, Jonah, Jazlyn, Rebecca, Mathew, Sarah & Julian.
Joy was a proud Nursing graduate of Christian Medical
College in Vellore, India (1950-1954). Joy and her young
family immigrated from Kerala, South India to Kingston
Ontario in 1967, where she worked as a Registered Nurse
at the Kingston General and Psychiatric Hospitals. Upon
the sudden death of her husband, she joined her daughters
in Ottawa, Sooke, & fi nally Montreal.
Joy made fast friends everywhere she went. Her wit,
sense of humor and fun endeared her to many. She led
a happy, grateful life and we will forever miss her. Our
gratitude is extended to her many Sooke friends and Dr.
Dan O’Connell for his exceptional care and friendship. A
beautiful funeral service was held in Kingston Ontario on
October 9th, 2010.
