Harold (Harry) William Hope Crooks launched the boat on Saturday September 24, 2016.

Harry was born January 26, 1944 in Victoria to Harold and Winnifred Crooks. He is survived by Bonnie, his wife of 49 years, their two daughters Shelley (Ian) and Cheryl (Phil), five grandchildren, Russell, Hayley, Jessie, Richard and Reg, brother Bob (Maureen), nephews Vince and Ken, nieces Rene, Nicole and Celeste, and other family members.

Harry grew up in Victoria. The family settled on Iris Avenue in 1955 and Harry attended McKenzie, Colquitz, and Mt. View schools. During those years Harry made many lifelong friends and lasting memories.

When Harry and Bonnie married, they stayed in the Marigold district where they raised their family and built their first home. Harry and Bonnie loved their cottage years at Tugwell and moved full-time to Otter Point in the late ‘80’s.

He served an apprenticeship at Smithson Upholstery, and worked at various shops before his employment in the sail loft in Dockyard, retiring after 27 years.

Harry loved to build and craft with his hands; he loved the outdoors and vintage cars and collecting “things”. His camping weekends at Cowichan Lake with his buds were always the best.

You could always count on Harry for help, or to make you laugh with stories of his numerous adventures with family and friends, or one of his many jokes. Harry always took the high road.

Celebration of Harry’s life will be held Sunday October 16th from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Ranger Clubhouse, 3498 Luxton Road. Please take time to prepare your favorite memories of Harry to share.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to the heart or lung foundations.
