April 18, 1932 - May 18, 2012
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jim Rose on May 18 - beloved husband, father and grandfather, aka ‘Poppa’.
He leaves his wife of fifty years, Lynda, his son Dave, daughter Melanie, son-in-law John Haugland, and grandchildren Brendan,
Jordan and Jill. He also leaves his brother Jack (Eleanor) and sister Joyce (Bob) and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was an employee of DND for over thirty years. During that time some of the activities he enjoyed were coaching hockey and volunteering at Operation Trackshoes. He was also a member of the Sooke Lion’s Club.
Retirement gave him more time for gardening and more time with his family, the great love of his life.
How would his family describe him? Some of the words would be loving, loyal, courageous, supportive, fun, compassionate,
thoughtful, caring. kind, ‘the best Granddad in the whole world’ and ‘He was always there’.
To help us celebrate Jim’s life, there will be a memorial service held at the Church of the Advent, 510 Mount View Ave.
Colwood on Friday May 25, at 2:00 pm. A reception will be held at the same location following the service.
