Patricia Anne Brown

Aug. 19, 1943 – May 14, 2016

Pat died in hospice in Parksville with her family and her best friend at her side. She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, John Irvin Brown of Parksville, B.C and by her daughter, Lynnora Gilbert of Phoenix Arizona, U.S.A. She was pre-deceased by her first husband, Larry Gilbert. Remembered with love by her brother-in-law, Marvin and sister Doreen Olson (Nee Lowe, Pearson) and her brothers Tom Lowe (Rose deceased) of Nanaimo, B.C. and Robin Lowe (Sandy Deceased) of Gold River, B.C. Pats parents, both deceased, were old-time Sookites, Leslie and Lorna Lowe, who came to Sooke from Cowichan Bay in the early 1940’s to work in the logging industry. Pat grew up in Sooke and her first job was working for Maurice Tozer who started Sooke’s first paper, “The Grapevine” in the 1950’s.

Loving thanks from Pat’s family to Joan Kerr (Nee Perry) who faithfully cared for Pat for the entire length of her illness. Pat and Joan were lifelong friends- both were born when the Lowe and Perry (Ervin and Bertha) families shared a large home that stood where the Sooke Road Carwash stands today. Both also worked in Real Estate and in banks in Victoria and in Dawson Yukon. Pat also worked for Victoria City Police and managed some motels. She worked at a gold mine and at a jewellery shop in the Yukon. She was always industrious and busy, ready to help whenever help was needed. Auntie Pat is remembered with great affection by her Nephews, Kevin, Shawn, and Matthew Pearson and Derin Lowe and Nieces Kathy Scott (Nee Lowe) and June Herrling (Nee Pearson) and by her cousins, Lawrence Lowe of Sooke and David Lowe Of Duncan B.C. Pat has chosen cremation with no service.
