After a courageous battle with cancer Phil has gone home peacefully to be with his Lord. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Ruth, daughter Thea (partner Maria Cuartin), Frank (Mary & grandchildren Colton & Kaeleigh), stepchildren Rob Holownia (Jennifer Jolicouer), SharonGauld (Allan & grandchildren Ella & Alex) & Michael Holownia, & chosen daughter Michelle Dunn (Steve & granddaughter Whitley).
Phil & Ruth lived for 7 years at Cheanuh Marina (Becher Bay). His passion was fishing with family, friends & his sidekick, Misty (his dog). Phil worked as a Commissionaire at Rocky Point. He attended Sooke Baptist Church & his faith was a very important part of his life. He & Ruth spent time volunteering at a mission in Mexico, where he fell in love with the people. He wanted to stay indefinitely, but couldn’t because of his cancer. He lived out his life in the country near Qualicum Beach for the past 2 years
A Memorial Service to honour Phil’s life, was held at St Stephen’s United Church in Qualicum Beach, BC on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 1:30 PM with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Phil’s memory can be made to the cancer organization of your choice.
