It is with great sadness that we as a family announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Bill was a Volunteer Fireman with the Sooke Fire Department for 62 years. In tribute to his service, the new fire hall was named in his honour. Bill spent more than a decade as a Sooke School Board Trustee with District #62. He was also a member of the Canadian Toy Train Association for 40 years. He began his career as an Auto Mechanic for Cains Garage, then worked as a Saw Filer for Sooke Forest Products until he retired. He leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years Ruby, Donna (Keith) Tamara & Amanda (Francis) Lukas & Lars, Brenda (Tom) Carrie, Madeleine & Olivia, Lisa (Chris) Travis & Brianne, Linda (Brian) Liane & Lori, Laura (Mark) Malcolm & Kelsey, many relatives and friends. A celebration of Bill’s life was held at the W. J. Stephenson Station Sooke Fire Department on September 17, 2016. If you choose, donations can be made to the Sooke Firefighters Association or Cops for Cancer.
