Letters: Garbage attracts bears

Letter writer talks of urban sprawl and impact on wildlife

It always amazes me that people who are nervous when they encounter wildlife move to rural areas and leave their garbage around. Black bears normally don’t attack, exception — a female with cubs or sick.

Urban sprawl is becoming a huge challenge for our magnificent neighbours with them having to find food sources and dwelling when humans clear cut masses of land for side-by-side housing.

I live in a rural area and would love to see more wildlife, guess I would have to leave my garbage out.
