Response to editorial

Letters

It is interesting to read the column Our View in the Sooke News Mirror, July 6, which expresses concern for the loss of agricultural land in the CRD.

The writer has divorced the issues raised by the proposed Marine Trail Holdings development in the Rural Resource Lands from those issues raised by the proposed developments in Central Saanich.

Those who have closely followed discussion at the CRD Board meetings, letters to the editor  and presentations from the public or read the Dogwood Initiative website Vancouver Island is Not For Sale  understand that the people opposing these developments next to the Juan de Fuca Park and in Central Saanich farm land know these rezoning requests are two sides of the same coin. These rezoning requests  are an attempt to break the Regional Growth Strategy  and create an open season for densification of development in all areas of the Capital Regional District.
