Until March 15, the District of Sooke is accepting applications for the 2025 Community Grant Program.

The program provides financial support to local non-profit organizations and community groups delivering programs, projects, and initiatives that enrich the lives of Sooke residents and align with the district's priorities.

Applicants must be registered non-profit organizations, societies or community groups serving Sooke residents and be in good standing. These organizations can apply for up to $7,000 for a maximum of three consecutive years.

In 2024, a total of $100,810 was disbursed through the program, including to groups like Meals on Wheels, Sooke Bike Club, and Sheringham Point Lighthouse Preservation Society.

“This grant program highlights the district’s commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen our community, foster inclusivity, and celebrate what makes Sooke unique,” said Mayor Maja Tait in a press release.

Categories in which organizations can apply are sports and recreation, fine arts and culture, heritage, public safety, community development, community beautification and environmental sustainability.

To support their application, applicants are strongly encouraged to demonstrate efforts to secure other funding sources, the district said.
