BEEF TO THE OWNERS of construction companies who rock around in their branded diesel trucks while their workers can’t afford to buy new boots. I understand you took the risk and built the company, but it leaves you with resentful and cynical workers. If you want the best of us, then pony up the cash.

A HUGE BOUQUET to Kayla for saying, “Yes.” I am so looking forward to spending the rest of my days with you. You have helped me become a better man. It’s all about the Power of Two. Love, Ed.

ROTTEN BEEF to the smoker in a red Sportage Kia flicking their cigarette ashes out the window, and anyone else who has this habit. You can cause a fire. There needs to be fines.

BOUQUETS to all the young people who have worked all summer in local stores. They are helpful and cheerfully attend to any task required. Thanks again for your dedication.

HUNK OF BEEF to the person beefing about motorists stopping one or two car lengths before another vehicle at a red light. ICBC wants us to stop at least one car length behind the vehicle in front of us at a red light. My daughter was stopped at a red light behind another vehicle. Another vehicle hit her hard enough to send her into the rear end of the vehicle ahead of her. ICBC questioned how far away she was from the vehicle ahead of her.

ROSES TO THE SOOKE RCMP officer that took care of an issue when I complained about criminal activity in my neighbourhood.

BEEF TO IGNORAMUSES walking their dogs without leashes on our beautiful Whiffin Spit — but not for the reasons you might think. While you are sauntering along, your dog is dropping its load where it pleases and I’m sure it’s very difficult for you to find it and pick it up, judging from the mounds I had to dodge on my morning walk.

BOUQUET to Conservative MLA candidate Marina Sapozhnikov for being the only one to call me back and agree to meet in person to chat about her party’s position on issues. Beefs to the other two Sooke-based candidates for not even bothering to return my call.

BEEF TO MY NEIGHBOURS. You’re mistaking politeness as personal counselling. By verbally spilling out decades of your family’s dysfunction and very deeply personal matters, you’re oversharing and making other’s uncomfortable. We’re not your “blessing.”

BOUQUETS for Sooke Pickleball volunteers Estella, Bart and George. The well-organized club led by these three individuals do a fantastic job. They are backed by many more volunteers all helping out a little bit. A fun, healthy activity for many community members all free of charge. What a great asset to Sooke. Thank you all.

BEEF TO WHOEVER decides that police resources are wasted on speeders and loud vehicles. This little town has become a veritable speed track of very fast and very loud cars trucks and motorcycles.

DOUBLE BOUQUETS to all the Sooke Fall Fair organizers — and the super volunteers. What a wonderful display you produced. And thanks to all who entered the competitions.

I UNDERSTAND that noisy motorcycles can be annoying. However, if motorists would put down their phones and/or actually looked for motorcycles, there would be no reason to make bikes’ exhaust louder. Drivers don’t look for motorcycles so they need to be heard. Sorry for the annoying sounds, but loud pipes save lives.
