A GREAT BIG BEEF to the person who walks a large dog down Whiffin Spit Road every day, allows it to defecate in front of residents’ properties, and never cleans up after it. Shame on you!
CHEERS to the younger generation “beefer” who complains about never being able to buy a house or retire. First, we baby boomers are retiring and passing away in large numbers, leaving you our assets and homes – homes we worked hard for all our lives. So, you’ll be OK. Second, few people start by buying a house; it could be a trailer, a piece of land, a cabin, or a small apartment. Third, look at young people in the trades – they make excellent money and can afford big trucks and large houses.
THANK YOU, Dumont Tires! I was driving from Otter Point to Sooke centre when I noticed my tire was down to 11 pounds. I drove straight to Dumont Tires and was in and out in just 20 minutes. Great service and a great team – thank you so much!
A BEEF to everyone overbuilding unaffordable housing that no one can afford to rent. Why not build rent-to-own housing and include the down payment in the total cost of the home.
A MASSIVE BOUQUET to paramedics Brittany and Gerard, as well as BC Ambulance Services (including the dispatcher), for providing me with exceptional care on Jan. 29 when I had a seizure and lost consciousness at home. Another heartfelt bouquet to my husband, John, who provides exceptional care for me at home as I recover from a fractured neck, and to our wonderful neighbors, whose messages of love and support mean so much.
BEEF to the woman who let go of her dog’s leash in Ed Macgregor Park, allowing it to run toward me and my leashed cat. My cat became fearful and defensive, and if another woman hadn’t stepped in to keep the dog away, it could have seriously injured your dog. Your dog may like cats, but not everyone will like your dog.
I HEAR the same story from councils and mayors across the province: more people and houses mean a bigger tax base and lower property taxes. What a farce. Look at Sooke, for example.
BOUQUET to those who read labels, purchase Canadian-made products, and support our farmers’ markets. By doing so, we support our growers and distributors.
BEEF TO THE CRUEL, heartless people who abandon their cats. A tame domestic cat is not meant to be left to fend for itself.
BOUQUET to those who recognize that no wall has been built on Mexico’s northern border. It’s wise to remember that a certain politician is full of hot air. The sky is not falling—choose happiness and enjoy our beautiful nation.
I UNDERSTAND that being in the hospital may be boring, but that does not give you the right to disturb the other three people in the ward by listening to content on your phone for hours or speaking to friends and family on speakerphone. Please be considerate of others.
WHOSE IDEA was it to place the “Your Speed” sign at the end of the road rather than partway down? On Grant Road West, the sign is located at 7142 Grant Rd. W., with only one street between it and West Coast Road.
KUDOS to the idea of spending $30K of our taxpayer dollars on a Canadian flag crosswalk in Sooke instead of a rainbow flag crosswalk. Let’s raise awareness and support national pride for a change —something that truly benefits everyone!
