BEEF TO ALL the FedEx and UPS drivers who tear into our complex like race car drivers. The speed limits are clearly posted—please slow down and obey the signs when entering.

A BIG BOUQUET to Kim at Coast Capital Savings for helping out an “old lady” during a banking transaction. Thank you for going above and beyond — you’re the best!

BEEF to all the people who give pigs a bad name. Stop dumping your garbage, food scraps, and especially smouldering cigarette butts on the roadside. Show some respect for the place you live. Protect the environment. Recycle what you can—and put garbage where it belongs.

A BIG BOUQUET to Dr. Chris Bryant for continuing to improve access to excellent dental care while running a busy practice. Thank you for your work in developing a mobile dental care model.

BEEF to the U.S. president demanding unquestioned loyalty to his agenda. With friends like him, who needs enemies?

WOW! What a wonderful concert the Sooke Philharmonic recently delivered to our community. It’s a true treasure to have this group continue bringing such talent-filled events to Sooke. Bravo—and a well-deserved standing ovation!

BEEF to some cashiers: Ask your customers if they want their receipt—don’t just throw it out. That’s not your decision to make.

BOUQUET to all of the thoughtful drivers who dim their headlights when approaching me on my bike in the dark early mornings. I so appreciate you.

BEEF to those who blindly buy into the electric vehicle hype. The environmental damage caused by lithium mining for volatile batteries far outweighs the benefits. If you’re truly focused on saving the planet, hybrids, natural gas, and hydrogen-powered vehicles are far superior options.

A SINCERE THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart, to the kind lady who followed my car to Pharmasave last week to warn me about the need to be more alert when driving. You were an “angel” sent to guide me. I listened, sold my car and am surrendering my licence after 70 years of driving.

BEEF to those who refer to the U.S. and Canada as democracies. One is a constitutional republic; the other, a constitutional monarchy. One swears allegiance to a document, the other to a person. Any other label used by any agency or group—public or private—is misleading and inaccurate.

A BOUQUET to the fresh spring air and birdsong. And a beef to neighbours who smoke near my window, making it impossible to open it—or the door—and enjoy nature.

I’M IN AGREEMENT about the so-called “freedom fighter” convoys who loudly protested COVID vaccines a few years ago. If we ever truly needed freedom fighters, it’s now—when U.S. bullies are threatening to annex Canada. Where are your parades and protests now, when it really counts?

BOUQUET to drivers who stop at the stop lines at controlled intersections. Those circles you drive over contain sensors that detect your vehicle and trigger the traffic light to change. Thank you for stopping in the correct spot!

PARKING BEEF. I pay for a disability parking spot, but I can rarely find one available. Do people who use the family parking spots have to pay? They should. I often see individuals—sometimes without children—using those spots.
