Families staying at Jeneece Place were supported for a seventh straight year by Save-On-Foods, which provided food and gift cards for those at the ‘home away from home.’

Jeneece Place, located adjacent to Victoria General Hospital and operated by the Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island, supports families who need a place to stay while their child receives critical care at the VGH pediatric ward or any of Greater Victoria’s hospitals or health care facilities.

The donation, $600 in groceries and $1,ooo worth of Save-On-Foods gift cards, was presented Thursday (Jan. 13) by store managers Ross Prendergast, George Clarke and Dave Alexander.

“We are proud to help fill the pantry at Jeneece Place and hopefully make life a little easier for the families staying there,” Prendergast said in a statement.

Families staying at Jeneece Place are often experiencing the most stressful time of their lives, foundation CEO Veronica Carroll said. She thanked the company on parents’ behalf of families that call this their “home away from home while their children are receiving health care.”

“This generous contribution allows families to utilize food in the pantry to make their own meals between hospital visits, so they don’t have to worry about grocery shopping and can instead focus on their child’s health,” she added.
