Saanich 150 time capsule on display at municipal hall

Time is running out to be a part of the Saanich 150 time capsule project.

The waterproof vessel is stationed at the entrance to Saanich Municipal Hall where the public are invited to write a message on a postcard and drop it into the capsule.

Most of its contents are also on exhibition in the window display at the entrance.

The time capsule will soon be encapsulated for 50 years, with instructions for staff to open it in 2067, said Coun. Vicki Sanders, a Saanich 150 committee member.

“It will be enclosed and sealed with a plaque on it at the entrance to city hall,” Sanders said.

The Saanich News sponsored the time capsule project with partners Camosun College, Peppers Foods, Canadian Tire and Big Wheel Burger.
