Soap for Hope Canada has seen a 174 per cent surge in demand during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The registered charity creates hygiene products for the community in an environmentally friendly fashion. Organizers didn’t know how to keep up with growing demand, but their team was able to pull through and eventually celebrate their accomplishments at the end of 2021, a release said.
Soap for Hope also opened two social enterprises: Salish Sea Soap Pebbles and Second Hand Hope, a Victoria-based thrift store.

Other accomplishments include a feature in Victoria Foundation’s vital people category for development of laundry detergent and the addition of another warehouse in Victoria and a larger facility in Calgary.
A golf tournament in collaboration with other non-profits raised $80,000 for the Tsawout First Nation Big House.
The company also reduced the volume of products ending up in landfills by 14 full school buses.
