Sooke Community Choir hosts Christmas concert

The Sooke Community Choir wants to put you in the Christmas spirit.

The choir presents A Classic Christmas on Dec. 8, 9 and 10 in Sooke.

The concert will present works of Bach’s Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, Handel’s For Unto Us A Child Is Born, Vittoria’s magical O Magnum Mysterium as well as settings of classic compositions by John Rutter, Alice Parker and many other composers and arrangers.

The music will not only include the 60-voice Sooke Community Choir under the direction of Bruce Ruddell but also an instrumental collaboration with Victoria musicians Rachel Capon, cello; Hollas Longton, violin; and the choir’s award-winning collaborative pianist Kathy Russell.

Tickets are $20 and available at Shoppers Drug Mart or at the door.

Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 8 and 9 and 2 p.m. on Dec. 10 at the Sooke Community Hall.
