The Sooke Quilt Show is set to return this month.
The biennial showcase features upwards of 50 quilts, which range from traditional hand- and machine-made quilts.
Organizer Erin Baye says this year's show promises to be a vibrant celebration of tradition and creativity.
"The goal of the show is to showcase the incredible talent and passion of local quilters," Baye said. "For me, it's also a chance to prop up our two quilt groups in Sooke."
The top prize quilts will be chosen by those attending the show in the People Choice awards.
Well-known quilter/designer Joni Newman will demonstrate many quilting tips and tricks, including the stained-glass technique, while fellow Sooke resident Sharon Hanslip hosts a "trunk show" — a show-and-tell, of sorts, of more than 30 different quilts.
Beyond the quilts, the show will also feature a variety of activities and events. Visitors can shop for unique handmade items at the vendor market, a cafe, and a raffle, with proceeds donated to Sooke Region Communities Health Network.
The Sooke Quilt Show is open Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sooke Community Hall (2037 Shields Rd.). Admission is $2.
