Sooke volunteers needed to help rejuvenate Ayum Creek

The environmental group will remove invasive plants at April 8 work party

The Greater Victoria Green Team needs volunteers to help with the rejuvenation of Ayum Creek.

The environmental group will remove invasive plants, such as Himalayan blackberry and English holly, and move mulch into the area at an April 8 work party.

Ayum Creek boasts more than 107 native plants, including two rare species.

Work to restore the 5.5 hectares of Ayum Creek dates back to 1998.

The event is held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ayum Creek Park.
