Sooke Harbour Toastmasters will host a special workshop on using voice, led by certified SoundBody instructor and Sooke Talks presenter Marjorie Baskerville.
SoundBody is a stress management system that incorporates three elements: the body, voice and movement.
“We carry tension in our bodies and this tension can seriously affect the quality of our voices. Through a series of playful vocal and body exercises we will explore how to release this tension and ground ourselves firmly into our bodies,” Sooke Harbour Toastmasters stated in a press release.
As there will be a fair amount of movement during the workshop, participants are asked to wear comfortable clothes and bring water. Light refreshments will be provided.
Baskerville is a singer, songwriter, performer and facilitator based in Sooke. She teaches voice lessons, facilitates workshops and leads a weekly vocal improv class.
An Evening of Vocal Play with Marjorie Baskerville is on May 28 at Ayre Manor, 6754 Ayre Rd., and begins at 7 p.m.
There is a $5 suggested donation.
