The 2018 Tour de Rock will be coming to Sooke on Wednesday, Oct. 3.

The riders will make a 35 minute stop at Journey Middle School (6522 Throup Rd.) between 2:19 and 2:54 p.m. It’s a chance for residents to meet some of the riders, chat about their riding experiences and even make a donation to the cause.

Tour de Rock is a two-week, 1,000-kilometre bike ride undertaken annually by a group of 22 riders comprised of police officers who are joined by members of the RCMP, firefighters, B.C. Ambulance crews, Parks Services staff and a media representative.

They set out from Port Alice on Sept. 22 and are now in the final stages of their ride.

Since 1998, when the first group of 16 police officers took up the cause, the Tour de Rock has raised more than $24 million tor pediatric cancer research.
