Aloni to lead Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra

Yariv Aloni is the new music director and conductor of the Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra.

He replaces Norman Nelson, who died recently.

Nelson hand-picked Aloni as his successor.

Aloni, well-known in the Greater Victoria area as a violist and conductor, has almost 30 years experience leading area community orchestras. He is familiar to the Sooke Philharmonic musicians and audiences and has previously lead performances of the Sooke Philharmonic as guest conductor..

Nicholas Fairbank will continue to direct and conduct performances of the Philharmonic Chamber Players and Chorus and Mike Klazek will conduct the popular summer Fling concert.
