Get an artistic start to the new year on the West Shore, as Colwood’s Coast Collective Gallery & Art Centre hosts events to keep art lovers engaged and inspired.

The Instructors Showcase brings the Collective educators’ work into the spotlight for a free event running from Jan. 2-12. Guests can view pieces, take in demonstrations and learn about future workshops with the Gallery’s esteemed instructors.

Notable teachers include Vancouver Island’s own Bev Robertson, acclaimed children’s book illustrator Kristi Bridgeman and interior designer and textile artist Daniella Amit. Meet the artists at a reception from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4.

Beginnings 2020 at Coast Collective Gallery features pieces by artists who have never shown their work or are working in a different medium than previously.

Next up is the Beginnings 2020 exhibit from Jan. 15-26. Also free, this event provides a first art showing for new artists, or those who are working in a different medium than they previously did. The meet-the-artists reception for this exhibit happens Saturday, Jan. 18 from 1-3 p.m.

Coast Collective Art Centre has been a West Shore hub for artists since its inception in 2008. Located within the Colwood town centre at 103-318 Wale Rd. in the Holiday Inn Express building, the Gallery provides those wanting to build their creative skills a variety of workshops and art classes, along with local artistic inspiration.
