The Local Blackhawks old-timer hockey team are throwing their Annual Friends and Family Christmas Skate at Pearkes Arena (green rink) on Thursday.

The team has a history of philanthropy, holding past fundraiser events for Emma Grace Smith, the Saanich teen who died of cancer in June of 2016.

Donations from this year’s skate will go to the Help Fill a Dream Foundation.

“Our events are tonnes of fun with a focus on raising funds for the Help Fill a Dream Foundation,” said Ted Balderson, team captain.

Admission is by donation, skate rentals are free and there will be hot chocolate and other goodies available.

The skate runs Thursday, Dec. 21 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Pearkes.
