Port Renfrew's Tall Tree Music Festival announced its 2017 festival lineup Tuesday, featuring bands from seven different countries.
At the end of last year's event, organizers asked festival-goers what they would like to see in music talent.
The response: they liked the Canadian acts, but wanted to see higher tier acts that they may not be regularly exposed to.
"So we listened," said festival director Mike Hann.
"The artists that are coming to Tall Tree in 2017 are billed on festivals worldwide, not just in Canada. We couldn't be more excited for them to come and experience everything that's amazing about Vancouver Island and Tall Tree."
This is the eighth edition of the popular festival, which this year will feature more than 70 acts performing a range of music from indie rock to reggaeton to EDM.
New Zealand's Shapeshifter, South Africa electronic duo GoldFish and American reggae act Easy Star All-Stars are among the headliners. Other international acts include Beats Antique, DJ Nu-Mark and Worthy, from the U.S.
Along with the international flavour, Tall Tree is expanding with more capacity, vendors, activities and sponsors, said Emmalee Brunt, the festival's communications manager.
"We hope that the eclectic lineup will peak the interest of individuals who have never been to Browns Mountain before, as well as residents from around the province, Alberta, Washington and Oregon," Brunt said.
"Like every year, we are making improvements to our stages and infrastructure, and increasing our vendor capacity. We are also focusing on both performance groups and artists (nonmusical) to bring more creativity and engaging exhibits to our audience."
The Tall Tree Music Festival is held June 23 to 26 on Browns Mountain, northwest of Port Renfrew. The festival sold out the last two years. Tickets for this year’s event are available here.
