Victoria’s Old Paint Duo brings American roots music to the Sooke Folk Music Society’s Coffee House at Holy Trinity Anglican Church on Nov. 16.

Old Paint Duo comprises of Miriam Sonstenes and Jeff Dill.

Using guitar and fiddle as their base and leaping off point, the two serve up old country songs, Texas fiddle tunes, old-time square dance music and original songs.

With their full length debut released last May, Old Paint Duo is gearing up for a year of touring and performing.

The album features original songwriting, covers of classic country duets by the likes of Hank Williams, The Louvin Brothers and Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner, as well as original and traditional old-time fiddle tunes.

Old Paint’s musical travels have taken them to Ireland, North Carolina, Louisiana, and across Canada on VIA Rail’s Artists on Board program.

The duo recently opened for John Reischman and The Jaybirds, and in March 2018 completed a Home Routes house concert tour in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Sonstenes also gigs regularly with the award-winning roots trio The Sweet Lowdown, as well as Victoria’s progressive acoustic band The Unfaithful Servants.

Dill is also a member of Riverside Bluegrass Band.

Doors for the coffee house open at 7 p.m. with an open stage at 7:30. Old Paint Duo performs at 9. Tickets are $7.50 for general admission and $5 for open stage performers. Holy Trinity Anglican Church is located at 1962 Murray Rd. in Sooke.
