Blood donor clinic date set for Sooke

The Dec. 18 clinic runs from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The holidays are a time for giving, and donating blood is one of the most important gifts a person can give.

A blood donor clinic is in Sooke on Dec. 18, and though all of the available spots are filled, the community is still encouraged to register in case donors are unable to attend.

The clinic runs from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and approximately 100 people will be donating.

“Sooke is one of our strongest communities for donating blood,” said Ann Chabert, territory manager with Canadian Blood Services. “They get how important it is to give blood, and want to help each other, so I think it (Sooke) is full of people with big hearts.”

People can also register for the clinic in Colwood taking place on Jan. 22, which still has multiple spots to fill.

Chabert said the need for blood donations is constant, and during the holidays people can get busy and don’t always think about donating blood.

“It doesn’t take a lot of effort. You can quite seriously save someone’s life by donating and it’s only taken an hour of your time,” said Chabert.

The next clinic in Sooke is on Feb. 12. To register for upcoming clinics, please go online to blood.ca/en.
