A new boil water advisory has been issued that will impact many East Sooke residents.
The Capital Regional District (CRD) and Island Health issued the advisory on April 25 for the Wilderness Mountain Water System, which services many properties along Wilderness Place, Sea Scape Place, Mount Matheson Road and Cains Way.
"Water quality may have been compromised due to elevated turbidity levels detected in the system," the CRD stated in a public service announcement.
"As a precaution, the boil water advisory will be in effect until flushing and water samples indicate the water quality no longer poses a risk to public health."
The advisory will remain in place until Island Health is satisfied that the drinking water does not pose a health concern and issues an 'ALL CLEAR' notice. At this time, impacted customers will be notified.
During the water advisory, household tap water may be disinfected by boiling vigorously for one minute.
