Job seekers will have access to over 30 organizations at the Langford Job Fair which was spurred as a result of a surge in job opportunities within Greater Victoria employers.
"The local labour market is constantly evolving, with the unemployment rate sitting at 3.8 per cent, the sixth lowest in Canada,” said Jen Mac Main, WorkBC contract manager, in a news release. “This highlights the importance of staying informed about upcoming opportunities in Langford to gain an edge in the current job market."
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with representatives from organizations such as BC Ambulance, BC Ferries, SD62 or the Indigenous Perspectives Society where there are a variety of positions available across multiple sectors including health care, trades, public service, education, and non-profits
According to WorkBC, between January and April, the most significant increase in work opportunities around Greater Victoria was seen in the information and recreation sector, which grew by 36 per cent, followed by professional services at 22 per cent and educational services at 15 per cent.
The fair will be on Thursday, Sept. 26 from 1 to 5 p.m., at the Langford Legion. Tickets for the event are available at Eventbrite.
