The Sooke Region Museum is opening their new Detours exhibit on Oct. 17.

A new exhibit at the Sooke Region Museum will aim to explore the ways residents have moved throughout the region, by wheels, foot, water and air.

The Detours: Bypass the Expected exhibit at the Phillips Road museum will open on Thursday, Oct. 17 and will be open to the public until Dec. 19, 2025.

"Getting around often means thinking outside the box (or the lines of the road). We don’t just use roads. Transportation includes trails, water, and air," noted a news release from the museum. So many objects that tell so many stories, this exhibit is both inside and outside the museum and will continue to December 2025."

An "opening event" will be held on the opening day from 5 to 7 p.m., and admission is by donation.
