The District of Sooke honoured Truth and Reconciliation on Monday at a stirring ceremony outside the Sooke branch of the Vancouver Island Regional Library.
The event was attended by several hundred residents, most wearing the orange shirt that has come to be an emblem of the day. Several speakers spoke about the need for healing, hope and action to redress the harms of the past and to chart a better path into the future.
