Accused in Beckett case has appearance pushed back a week

Kenneth Jacob Fenton was due to appear in Western Communities court today but had his date rescheduled for Mar. 16

Kenneth Jacob Fenton, facing multiple charges in relation to the crash that killed West Shore RCMP officer Const. Sarah Beckett last year, has had his court date moved to Mar. 16.

Fenton was due to appear in Western Communities court this morning.

It's unclear why the appearance was delayed.

Fenton is facing five charges in relation to the Apr. 5, 2016 crash that killed Beckett. They include impaired driving causing death, failing to stop while being pursued by a peace officer, impaired care and control causing death, operating a motor vehicle in a manner dangerous to the public causing death, and knowing or ought to have known that his care and control of a motor vehicle caused an accident resulting in death.

Beckett, a married mother of two children, was killed when a large pickup truck hit her police cruiser on the driver's side at the intersection of Peatt Road and Goldstream Avenue in Langford.
