The Edward Milne Community School Winds and Percussion, under the direction of Ms. Laurel Parliament, represented Sooke at the 35th Annual UVIC Band Fest on February 27.

This small, but talented ensemble made up of beginners to intermediate students in grades 9-11.

The ensemble was commended for their “Outstanding” conduct, attitude and responsiveness during their clinic with adjudicator Jackie Dawson (a professor from the University of Manitoba).

The students had a wonderful musical learning experience at the festival and are keenly anticipating their next festival in April – the Victoria Music Festival at Oak Bay High School.

The ensemble features Talia Whitten and Kira Forgie on Flute, Courtney Larkin and Sophia Abel-Heath on Clarinet, Kaedin Rheault on bass clarinet, Miles Drabitt and Stavros Chrysoulis on Trumpet, Tor Rabien on Alto saxophone, Tyson Robinson and Aodhan Tonnesen on percussion.
