A police incident in Vic West that resulted in the evacuation of a building on Friday night has been resolved.

VicPD and Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team shut down the area surrounding an apartment building in the 00-block of Saghalie Road around 8 p.m. on Jan. 10.

Residents were told that a suspect with weapons was in the building.

At the time police asked that everyone “avoid the area out of an abundance of caution” while crews worked to manage the situation peacefully, said Bowen Osoko, spokesperson for VicPD.

After 11 p.m., VicPD announced that the incident had been resolved. One person was taken to hospital for assessment, the area was reopened to traffic and that the evacuated residents were allowed to return home.

The specifics of the incident have yet to be released by police.
