Camping season hits full stride in regional parks

The CRD manages campgrounds at Island View Beach, Sooke Potholes and Jordan River Regional parks

With the start of the Victoria Day weekend, and the unofficial start to summer, camping season is in full gear at Capital Regional District parks.

The CRD manages campgrounds at Island View Beach, Sooke Potholes and Jordan River regional parks.

The campgrounds offer self-contained camping in a natural setting, close to urban and suburban areas.

Here’s what’s new for the 2018 season:

• The CRD has launched a new online reservation system for Island View Beach Regional Park. The seasonal campground is open from May 18 to Sept. 3. Reservations can be made up to 30 days in advance.

• The CRD and T’Sou-ke Nation have entered into a multi-year agreement for operation of the campground at Sooke Potholes Regional Park. T’Sou-ke Nation operates the Spring Salmon Place Campground on behalf of the CRD. The campground operates seasonally, on a first-come, first-served basis. Now open for the season until Sept. 16.

• Jordan River Regional Park campground operates year-round, on a first-come, first-served basis. New information signs on surfing etiquette are in the park.
