City of Langford offers $10,000 in payouts to residents who suffered flood damage

Langford council voted unanimously to set aside $10,000 in its budget for people who suffered damages in the February flooding.

Residents on Strathmore found their streets flooded and some were forced out of their homes due to significant water damage on Feb. 19.

A ruptured water pipe destroyed living spaces and left many residents scrambling to secure a places to live and the funds to do so. The money will come out of general expenses. The Capital Regional District previously told media they were legally protected from compensation.

The water was shut off after around an hour and repairs were made that night.
