COVID-19 outbreaks declared at long-term care homes in Victoria, Nanaimo

Island Health has declared new COVID-19 outbreaks at long-term care homes in Victoria and Nanaimo.

An outbreak limited to the first floor of Beacon Hill Villa in Victoria was declared Thursday following positive tests among three residents.

In Nanaimo, nine residents have tested positive at Dufferin Place, prompting an outbreak to be declared for the long-term care home’s Cedar unit.

Outbreak protocols have been implemented at both sites.

An outbreak at Victoria’s Aberdeen Hospital long-term care home has been declared over. The home’s Lansdowne unit was impacted by the outbreak, which started on Jan. 4.
