If you live in the Sooke area, and find that your water looks discoloured in the coming months, it is nothing to worry about, as the Capital Regional District is conducting its annual water maintenance.

The CRD’s integrated water services water main flushing program is used to clean sediment build ups out of water pipes to improve water quality and to maintain valves and infrastructure.

The program includes, Sooke, East Sooke, Colwood, View Royal, Metchosin and Langford.

The winter program runs from Jan. 8 to April 30, and will include Sooke, East Sooke and View Royal. Langford and Colwood were done in the fall.

Matt McCrank, senior manager of infrastructure operations for the CRD integrated water services, said he does not expect the maintenance to affect traffic in any way.

He added that if you see a discolouration in your water, just run the tap for a few minutes and it should clear out.
