Saanich Police seek the driver of a black four-door Mercedes sedan who was responsible for a hit-and-run collision at the intersection of Harriet Road and Burnside Road West.

The incident occurred at 6 a.m. this morning.

The driver of the Mercedes was travelling west on Burnside Road East (Burnside Road East switches to West at Harriet), when they drove the car through a red light, said a Saanich Police release.

It created a T-Bone style crash when the driver of a Dodge Caravan, travelling northbound through the green light on Harriet, then struck the Mercedes. As a result of the impact, the Mercedes spun across the intersection into two other vehicles waiting at the red.

However, the driver of the Mercedes did not remain on scene, and fled west bound along Burnside Road West.

The driver of the Caravan suffered, what appear to be, minor injuries.

Saanich Police are asking for the public’s help in locating the driver and the black Mercedes sedan. The car likely has significant damage to the rear driver’s side of the vehicle.

If you were a witness to this crash, know who the driver is or have seen the vehicle, call Saanich Police at 250-475-4321 or to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).
